RIP Raymond Briggs, whose impact - on comics, on children who read comics - simply cannot be understated. When the Wind Blows terrified me as a child, and does to the same degree today. I can’t think of any other work that can say the same.

Ah, Raymond Briggs. He was a beautiful illustrator and storyteller, and had a profound effect on my every Christmas as a kid. I still have these books, and I still get them out every year. Hugely evocative and comforting. RIP.

Sorry to hear of the death of legendary writer and illustrator #RaymondBriggs, treasured and pored over his books as a child, in particular loved the way he made Father Christmas both grumpy and altruistic and therefore “real” ❤️
