I kept the shadows pretty saturated and made the lighter ones have a warmer tone and the darker ones cooler, but the opposite also looks good. For the background i just kinda picked random colors at first, made the highlights darker using the tone curve, (2/x)

From the way CC replied to, "[Alyx] learned her lesson in the end, right?" with, "I'd certainly say so" in the tone he did + his body language, it's clear that the lesson she learned was NOT what the readers, and RWBY, expect. And certainly not as positive.
