I start with a loose sketch and block in colors quickly with a line or square drawing tool, starting with the background and then focusing on the figure. From there I build up form by adding in darks and stuff.

Such an awesome way to use the lasso tool. I've done it just once or twice, but I love doing it when I'm drawing flames. It gives them a cool angular look that I'll mess with later. Oh even with trees, outline it with a lasso
