Okay after smashing my head against the wall today I came out with this portrait. 1st attempt vs 2nd attempt.
I feel I was trying to hard for realism with the first attempt and it just felt off. The 2nd attempt was more my comfort zone style.

@FOKSICH Well, I'm bad at art, so maybe my opinion isn't well informed but... Your art is some of my favorite when it comes to atmosphere! In fact I often feel like I should only commission you when I have a story idea worthy of your style. In my eyes, these have SO much atmosphere.
Shoutout also to some of the flat, anime-style art I did. About halfway through the year I decided to stop drawing in this style.
It was a tough decision dropping the line art and focusing on more realistic painting, but it was the right one. Trying to lean into my strengths.
