The grimm child and Grimm himself were fun. The Knight's nail was a bit annoying to make look good.

Also, as you can see, I went for basic stuff instead of anything more ornate for the background.

When I come back in to paint over the ‘mess’ I love the challenge of thinking about every brush stroke and making sure they are confident, clean & work with the background. Anyone who has my art knows all about my brushstrokes.

I started with the Zorn pallet and instead of ivory black used Prussian Blue and Burnt Sienna, then I added Flinders red Violet for the background. A fun study.
