Comic is in B&W, so I use a 14% black layer for the shading. Easy.
In colour, I’m experimenting. For the brunette, I just picked my colours. For the blond’s skin, dark base + lit parts in pink on an add layer with manual blurring of some edges, then a peachy layer on top to tint.
