When I was thinking about more concepts for the hands in front I remembered there exist birds that use sticks to get insects. So I think I'll go with the concept that it will use the hands to snatch prey that hide in small areas it will not be able to reach with it's pinchers

My illustration of a member of the order Titanoptera, insects from the Triassic! They were related to modern grasshoppers, and had what seems to be raptorial forelegs. Their wingspan could reach 36cm.
