Hi #artistsontwitter
I'm John, a comic book artist and illustrator and I’m always looking for new art opportunities!
He died in 1519, aged 67. In his will he left much of his estate to Melzi & to Salai. These two men had supported & loved him in life. Leda (nd), Nude (nd) & Salai as John the Baptist. The latter is a surprisingly erotic image for an old master (I’ve censored the ‘proud’ organ)
He was in Rome 1513-6 & had a good relationship with the Pope & met with the French King. He entered the King’s service in 1516, & was given a Manor House & a pension. Woman (1508), Embryo (1509-14) & St John (1510-15). The latter was based on Salai, his lover.
@Thisis_jelly What a lovely thread. A virtual avalanche of visual delights! If I may be so bold as to join in… my name is Dave and I draw to live - in both a financial and spiritual sense. Currently making comics with John Carpenter and scribbling on my days off.
From a recently discovered unpublished work by English poet John Donne:
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the werewolf stalks,
It stalks for thee.

If your sassy was playing the lead part in a movie what would it be?
Mine would be: Pocahontas part 3 - where Poca trashes John Smiths house and leaves him for a more delicate guy 😂

The design of Minas Morgul on screen will never fail to impress me. The perfect marriage of John Howe and Alan Lee’s vision for Middle Earth perfectly translated by Peter Jackson.
