This is what they're suppose to look like. The clean style they do now makes them look super generic and they loose all their character and personality.

It was clear in hindsight but it took a while to figure I could just make a link of bones that copy the rotation of the shin to deform the top/bottom of the thigh to keep clipping from happening when squatting. The butt needs some work but it may also be just as applicable there
