In an old poem of J.R.R. Tolkien, called "Errantry", the hero fights against some insects:
"He battled with the Dumbledors,
the Hummerhorns, and Honeybees,

Day 4 of
I’d like to introduce an internet meme in Japanese Tolkien fandom.
Most of us write “束” as a meaning of JRRT because his monogram looks like this Kanji character. We don’t know exactly who was the first (around 20 years ago), but we like it. 1/4

‘Tis and thus a good time to crank the volume all the way up to eleventy. Death-growls about coney stew indicate that the underground scene in The Shire is clearly thriving. Art by https://t.co/7HpyHVwKGg

On this day in 1937: J.R.R. The Hobbit was published.

The book tells of a hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, and his journey with thirteen dwarves to recover their treasure from a dragon, Smaug. It's sold over 100 million copies, becoming one of the best-selling books of all time

Sauron after joining Melkor, and then when he was still Mairon before being “seduced” to the dark side. A quick one cause I wanted to draw my old design for him again

My 6yo + I got to the Lonely Mountain, saw Bilbo discovering the keyhole to the secret door (guided by the thrush) + enter the mountain to encounter Smaug + his bright hoard! He was enchanted + didn’t want me to stop reading! 🐉

In mythology Yavanna is the Giver of Fruits. She is robed in green and loves “all things that grow in the earth”. There are clear resonances with Demeter from classical myth, but who is who? 👇

My 6yo + I followed Bilbo + the Dwarves down the river + just approached Lake-town. He loved the scene of the invisible Bilbo trying to suppress his sneezes + was fascinated by the idea of dragons causing earthquakes!

Tolkien edition. It was REALLY hard to narrow down 5 years worth of fandom content into just 4 examples of my styles.
