the red-orange-yellow version sort of has a "2000s adventure anime" vibe but I'm honestly surprised by how much takada was able to modernize yuu's design, which is so especially 80s, making it feel new but keeping it easily recognizable
#oralhistory Lyle Hendrick, a Cold War Special Forces Officer, started out in Signal. He describes leading Soldiers in the late 70s and 80s, and how he's continuing the mission today by recording Special Forces Oral Histories. Watch his interview: https://t.co/lQaHHD1JxT
@taterderg 70s, 80s, 90s manga art tbh. Those bright pinks and sorta weird proportions are so iconic and I love how strangely cartoony they are
Works by Santa Clara Pueblo artist Helen Hardin (Tsa-sah-wee-eh), 1970s-80s, known for her geometric style that incorporates indigenous motifs.
The Cottingley #Fairies appear in a series of five photographs taken by Elsie Wright and Frances Griffiths in 1917. In the early 1980s, Elsie and Frances admitted that the photographs were faked, using cardboard cutouts of fairies copied from a popular children's book of the time
@UsagiCola yep
the mother 1 novel was released back in the 80s, in it he was called "Ken" since he had no official name at the time
its japan only but if your lucky you can find some fanart of "Ken" if you look hard enough
Watched one of my favourite movies for a commission on new wave Australian film. From 1982, THE YEAR OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY. Apart from Mel & Sigourney smouldering on the screen, I love this film’s deceptively complex, albeit very 80s, engagement with Asian politics.
How many styles should you have? I don’t think there’s a rule here since challenging yourself is important. A client asked if I could render like the Gi Joe packaging of the 80s, and being a fan I said yes. I’m very pleased with how this turned out.

@twiliight_omen Hello there! I am Koko and I draw a bunch of cars from the '80s, '90s and 2000s!! Plus, I also draw one of my OCs for fun too! ;3
I'm finally all caught up on the new She-Ra on Netflix. I honestly didn't know what I was getting myself into, but as a fan of the 80s, I totally love this new installment! So many awesome chars, but I gotta give a happy nod to Double Trouble voiced by @JacobTobia . 1/
Most modern manga have dialogue lettered digitally in Japan, but being from the 80s, Transformers is all analog. And that means any text elements you see within the pages themselves had to be erased/retouched by hand.
Like these. And these. And these!
I got a feeling that if the internet existed in the 1980s, Skeeter from the original series would be getting the same kind of feedback.
Mountains and Rivers in city of Guilin, 1980s, by Japanese photographer Hiroji Kubota.
Guilin is one of China's most popular tourist destinations, and there is a saying: East or west, Guilin landscape is best, to describe the beauty of the city.
In the late 1980s, many old anime remakes were made in Japan. In Japan, there are regular remake booms of old anime.
Male #lifeclass model from the '80s, Indian ink and watercolour
