RIP Raymond Briggs, these books were a huge part of my childhood, even his incredibly dark When The Wind Blows...!

My first Raymond Briggs book was 'Jim and the Beanstalk'. It made me laugh but also fascinated and slightly terrified me. I loved it.

Oh no RIP Raymond Briggs 😔
For me it was the Father Christmas books that I loved as a child, with all their details and coziness. I went on to read them to my kids and they were loved all over again. An inspiration to many https://t.co/Ep0MlgoibE

So sorry to hear that Raymond Briggs has died. Such a marvellous talent in creating comics. I was particularly moved by how he recorded the voices and mannerisms of the older generations, in ‘When the Wind Blows’ and ‘Ethel & Ernest’, about his parents. https://t.co/WpSIQYKMT6

Raymond Briggs, a brilliant author and illustrator. Always loved his take on Father Christmas.

Sad to read Raymond Briggs has died. Many will of course know him for Snowman but his fictionalised autobiography ‘Ethel and Ernest’ covering was very powerful too & shows the value of fiction in our understanding of WW2, especially for young minds: https://t.co/TeFSjyX2bx

Raymond Briggs is a big one. He was special. I thought of the Elephant and the Bad Baby, which we don't even own but I got it out from the library in Norwich when the kids were little, and it stuck with me

"Snow had fallen steadily all night long and in the morning I woke in a room filled with light and silence, the whole world seemed to be held in a dream-like stillness. It was a magical day... and it was on that day I made the Snowman."

✒️RIP. has passed away🕯️

Since I was a kid I loved comics, but my dry and dark sense of humour was modelled by one author and illustrator! Raymond Briggs RIP. In ode to the master is storytelling.

Raymond Briggs. Gone. What a light extinguished from our industry. There are very grumpy shoes left open for someone to step into. I would like to do that. We followed a similar path into illustrating books. His Bear is my fav. But he out whits me by an ocean. Celebrate his life.

Awful awful news. Briggs was really one of the best storytellers we had. When the Wind Blows, Fungus the Bogeyman, The Snowman, just masterpiece after masterpiece. https://t.co/edCPzYGszp
