The mural of The Coronation of St Edward the Confessor for the Painted Chamber in Westminster was thankfully recorded by C.A Stothard in 1819. Created for Henry III's bedchamber in the 1260's. The state bed stood before this image to create a spiritual link to The Confessor.

George II, King of Great Britain and Ireland from 22 June 1727 until his death #OnThisDay in 1760.
He is the last monarch to be buried in Westminster Abbey, with the sides of his and his wife's coffins removed at his request so that they could be together in death.
#otd in 1834 the Palace of Westminster burnt down in a fire caused by the burning of tally sticks, which were medieval tax receipts, in the furnaces below the @HouseofLords. Great efforts were made to save Westminster Hall. Read more about it: https://t.co/O7SA1Wwq2i
Some parts of the building survived the fire, including Westminster Hall, the Undercroft Chapel and the Cloisters of St Stephen's. These were incorporated into the new Palace of Westminster, designed by Charles Barry and Augustus Pugin, and built between 1839 and 1870. 3/3
