IDK about you, but Shantae’s new Octopus form reminds me of the Octolings from Splatoon!
Not only does her octopus form somewhat resemble the Octoling’s octopus form, but like an Octoling she has ink jets that propell herself through the air!
Not to mention the tentacle ponytail!

Marina from Splatoon 2. In Splatoon you play as an Inkling (squid person). As well as being the only black NPC, Marina is an Octoling, the octopus counterpart to Inklings. Octolings are generally enemies, but Marina is “one of the good ones”.

More ocs!! This is Grey! He's a Goldie Salmonling and can change forms between humanoid and fish at will just like Inklings and Octolings, but his Goldie form is pretty sickly, so he doesn't do it often
