Something completely out of left field for the final study today -- took a stab at recreating Yoji Shinkawa's Metal Gear Solid art! This style is totally out of my wheelhouse, but I gave it my best! ^^ (8/8)

I had to eventually admit to myself that I can’t really achieve the exact style of Yoji, because to do that I would have to think exactly like him.
Instead I need to master the concept of the style, so I could use my own intuition while drawing, instead of relying on his art (7)

Broke: complaining about art styles and making up stupid names for them
Woke: sharing art styles we love and are inspired by!

Some Rainbow Six fanart I made on stream the other day. Wanted to try my hand at a character splash screen that is more painterly than the in game renders.

Style influenced by Yoji Shinkawa's work🐸

I learnt about the Ukiyo-e pop art style today, courtesy of an interview with Tamara Yamamoto and Yoji Shinkawa in The Art of Metal Gear Solid 2 book. Saw this fun example by Jed Henry and Dave Bull

A couple of doodles of Snake and Meryl, looked at some references of Yoji Shinkawa’s artwork. Really want to replicate that style of ink drawings and watercolor, someday.
