Blobbed out a color/values preview for a study I'm working on!
David Grove appreciation post. Some of my favorite handling of values and color in anything ♥️
During this training process I realized I need to improve at reading image values. Also, the face didn't end as I expected. At least I managed to reproduce the awesome pose and perspective! The image is from Grafit Studio.

Progress steps! As always I was working with greyscale and values, then colored it with gradient maps and color layers ☀️🌿
Here's a value study of 1 of my 💙 scenes from @theofficetv .
I tried to use the shapes/focus on shapes as @sinix777 mentioned in his painting vid and it was realllyyy helpful🙏💙
Will continue to do more such studies offline :)

Okay here we go with another round of colors based on previous feedback+requests. I've also restructured the node group to make it easier to adjust. There's some tricks here, like those black edges on the white hexagons are negative gloss color values. #b3d #bnpr #blender3D

We use outlines to make up for the lack of depth in an illustration. I omitted them on the fairy, because she is a light source.
It's a trade-off. No outlines means planning values and hues to create contrast everywhere you need edges.

I'm not in one - but I dislike posting about "dry spells" or begging for sales. The way I see it - an artist's goal: project the value of their work. Suggesting other people don't see that actively de-values it. Personally, I'm having fun - there's value in that - sales follow.
The creation step's of my last project "Jumpa".
Went paper -> quick 3D Mockup -> Linework in PS -> Color & Values

Studies through out my mentorship.
At week one I took the two value studies a little to seriously. Then I learned to let go and concetrate on the big shapes.
At week 3 I got my first taste of really breaking down values which still continues!
