Here I start to play with ideas on how to lower color count. I don't do low color count pixelart on purpose, though - I do it because with fewer colors, you can tie them together and make them work well in the context. Here, her bodysuit shares colors with her face shading.

I wanted to share one of my character design tips. If you're working on a new design, make a Pop figure of your character. It's one of the best ways I've found to focus on the color palette without being distracted by pose, expression, etc. You really see which details matter.
