Quint's Revenge 2 takes place in the time period mentioned in MM2GB's storyline: Specifically 37.426 years after that game takes place. They really start to show their age, with Wily in particular saying "He's way too old for any nonsense *now*."

Apparently, Claremont wasn't a fan of this storyline. I like it, but probably because they were the earliest issues in the Uncanny run I picked up at the time. Maybe that's it -- nobody else wanted them and they were just easier to find.
