Expect Mendo to be introduced much earlier and be more prominent in early episodes of the reboot, which is interesting since he was not properly introduced until episode 14 of the original anime! We also know they will be adapting the story he meets Kurama much earlier too.
Changing the order of events is indicative of other changes the reboot is making. Other tweaks include Mendo’s family sponsoring the game of tag between Lum and Ataru, and Mendo being added to the adaptation of Oyuki’s intro story, taking Cherry’s place from the original chapter.
However, we DO know that the series WILL be adapting chapter 4 “Present for You” based on the trailers! This chapter introduces Sakura, so it would be a big omission to not adapt. It was originally adapted as episode 5a “Sakura - Raving Beauty of Mystery” in the original anime.
