Happy Indigenous People’s Day! Turtle Shell Shakers are used by the Cherokee in stomp dancing. Only the women are allowed to wear them as everybody dances around the fire. It’s supposed to mimic the sound of running water.

We're not on the main water supply where we live...and have no water. Phoned for help and told they can't do anything in the dark and will send someone out in the morning. Was really looking forward to a hot bath! Aarghhh!

The Arches rag is mounted on a block and won’t wrinkle even with a lot of water. It’s expensive, so I don’t use it for everything. I have smaller block 9 x 12 for less complex scenes. This watercolour with a little acrylic white drybrushed to push out the white haze.
