This is Mimir. Here he is (skull head) with his bestie, Ferrand Falco, long before he was damned to the well and transformed into this shadow creature.
I'm hesitant to call him a villain. He can't decide if he abhors humanity or loves it, but he's a hindrance to the protagonist.
