I love all the contrasting colours that depict the different settings, temperature, tone and motifs. From cool watery pastels and earthy reds (Atreides), sickly greens and blacks (Harkonnen) to opulent golds (The Emperor).

left is a more reality grounded lighting situation, right is more stylized

ive found that DB chooses to let character tones have priority over lighting colors.. probably for simplicity, contrast and readability
