I've tried doing realistic before but I can never get the head or face right, but the body looks great usually, but for cartoony it's the opposite, bad body, good face

So like left is more realistic and right is more cartoony, they are from different times but they show it well

Ok found out he appeared in a comic of Young Justice & my goodness he looks PERFECT in this art style, so cartoony like he’s supposed to be.
If there was a new Captain Carrot comic I was this line art & color to be it.

Also, while this is a DS game made by a separate company, Super Princess Peach is also what I had in mind for this GBA Mario game.

The artstyle to me feels like a modern re-interpretation of YI's artstyle; just swap out the crayon look with a much cleaner, cartoony look.
