This first piece is 4 years old, one of the first pieces that I forced myself to get into all those itty bitty details.
I have really improved on lighting overall (especially colored lighting) and no longer avoid backgrounds/scenes, this second one really shows that!💜

I researched to find artists new to me on here and researched anime backgrounds from different eras, which led to a zigzag of texture and conveyance.

Artists often hit walls where they can't reverse-engineer what they're observing and that seems to be the case at the moment
