Thread: Caspar David Friedrich (1774-1840) is considered the greatest German landscape artist of his time. A key Romantic painter he explored the metaphysical role of human & nature. He truly captured the sublime.
Vintage postcard featuring marine reptiles as envisioned by paleoartist Charles R. Knight (1874-1953) for the Field Museum of Natural History. The caption below reads "Restoration of Extinct Sea-Lizards." Knight's original murals from the 1920s & 1930s still adorn the museum.
Scottish designer Sylvia Chalmers' 'Jaborandi' for Heal's. In 1953 she was also working on prints for fashion fabrics for other companies. 'Feathered Friends' is definitely due a reprint!
