My Favourite Arcade Games of 1989 – No.6
S.C.I
Tony & Ray return in this superb sequel. Better graphics, new cars, weather changes, the ability to fire at offending vehicles, and Karen - a new assistant. Not overly different from Chase HQ, but still massive amounts of fun.

Chase HQ
80s TV was cop show crazy, so combining the thrills of a high speed police chase with an Out Run like videogame was a fab idea. Nice graphics, cool speech, lots of humour & addictive gameplay make this a fantastic race & chaser.
are we ready for the same game again, kids?
similar graphics, swapped models, the same battle system we've had for 20 years?
yes?
good https://t.co/gnPqk1QG7R
Mod Sasami stepped up and made us some lovely graphics, so 84 years later, here's the results of the Interest Check, at long last! #tenchimuyo

Splatterhouse
Friday the 13th, Hellraiser, The Evil Dead, etc – horror movies were big in the 80s, so it was only a matter of time before someone put games and gore together. Gruesome graphics, spooky sound & grisly gameplay. Great fun.
@sai2exe Hello hello, I'm Mel and I like to draw! Lots of things, actually! Illustrations, magical items, twitch graphics, and even merch art! I take commissions, and stream my work process on twitch!

#RichardSmith was born #otd in 1931 🎈 In his 1981 series 'Field and streams', printed at #TylerGraphics, abstract geometric forms appear to zoom in and out like “frames from a film, a form becoming larger therefore nearer, or a form enlarging to absorb the whole field”.

Double Dragon
Take Kung Fu Master, add better graphics, power-ups, bigger baddies & 2 player co-op gameplay. The result? Double Dragon. It elbowed the competition into the dirt & revived the fortunes of the arcades single-handedly. Legendary.
@PuppetCombo Real talk though, with all these indie games paying tribute to PSX, N64, and Quake-style graphics, I would LOVE to see someone make a game in the style of the first House of the Dead's/Sega Model 2's graphics!

After Burner
After Burner gives the player control of an F-14 Tomcat jet & is inspired by the popular 80s movie Top Gun. Amazingly graphics, stunning sound & fast & frenetic gameplay combine to make another state-of-the-art Sega classic.

APB
In this fun & original game, you play as Officer Bob - keeping the streets safe & eating donuts. Cartoony graphics, lots of humour, & a cop car cab (gas pedal, steering wheel, siren button & flashing lights) make it highly enjoyable.
