The Icelandic tale Djákninn á Myrká tells the story of a an unnamed deacon from Eyjafjörður, North Iceland, and of his love for a woman named Guðrún.
Even in death, the deacon came back as a ghost to reunite with his love on Christmas eve, as he had promised.
