I love Tatsunoko designs from the 70s like Ive never even seen any of the shows or anything but the characters are just so good. Like there something so perfectly balanced in them, they have the perfect amount of American superhero influence along with native Japanese design

Besides the obvious inspiration from Sherlock Holmes and its many adaptions, James Bond, Jack the Ripper, and a good deal of Shakespear, MTP also owes a lot of its DNA to other anime/manga/Light Novels,
Looking Up to Magical Girls sounds like a fun romp. MC herself is a neat deconstruction of one of the major influences of the mahou shoujo genre "Revolutionary Girl Utena" in part by having the intended name starkly perceived as a sadist.
Pretty funny too so there's that.
