Progress. Contour work is one of those things that looks like crap in isolation but once you get a number of them together and pick some good colours it starts to hum. For now tho this is a start. Time to take a break.

You can see that at the Globe Scale of 1:175M my original contours are even here a bit much and the thin Abyssal slivers are really too thin for a map like this.

So for the first map I did a few years back the interpolated contours made a fairly majestic DEM and the Hillshade while fairly rounded was still really nice and contrasting.

So what I need to do is group up the main Height Breaks and then I'll just draw those limited bands which should hopefully be enough to make a decent DEM for the globe. Worst case I give up on the DEM and just use the Contours which isn't all that bad.

The HS looks only marginally ok around the main islands but that area has so many damn points. And I started this process to save time and I'm realizing it's going to probably take more than I want to fix this. So rather than tug of war this I'm going to go back to the Contours.
