...and here's a bit more of Dodge's concept. Mostly testing against possible bg colors that might be used in the first game so make sure the character actually pops off. Had to hit higher saturation on him which makes it a bit more cartoony but hopefully gets the job done.

Okay so I tried the pattern warp again & the layer effects. My layers for just this little bow are color < brightness < soft light < overlay < saturation 😭 It's the best I've gotten a pattern to look but does anyone have any critiques, or an easier idea of execution ??

@earliebirb And then when I want it to be brighter/fluffier/sunny day vibes - I increase the saturation level This is a really simple tip but it lets me play with the ‘mood’ I want to go for while coloring and a lot of the choice I make post that revolves around this.

@earliebirb So when I want a more dull/angsty vibe I go with a lower saturation level. A bit like rainy day weather. All the colors in this (except the marigolds) are at the same saturation level and it’s only the brightness&hue that’s adjusted

basically me practicing on using limited values,

cause i was kinda confused why my compositions were getting boring despite having variations of value.

apparently its cause saturations also affect values so thats why sometimes my drawings can look rlly messy

Stream results! I actually really like how Lefty turned out and will probably us those colors. This is the colorblind challenge where I put a saturation layer above the colors so i couldnt see them. It was fun ^^

I think Death of Wolverine was a very good comic that flew under a lot of people's radars because of the oversaturation of both Wolverine and "Death of" stories at the time.
