Toriyama's Monster Design of Droal for "Dragon Quest" (1986/05/27)
Akin to other monsters, it has an unique color (this time in purple) for the sake of being eye-catching. However, its odd appearance already defies the ordinary... What was he thinking w/ this reptilian?... fish?
Toriyama's contributive illustration for the 10th anniversary edition "Book of All Secrets Official Premium Fanbook" (2009/12/04)
A dream come true for Kishimoto, as an avid fan of Toriyama, they colloborated to art exchange their characters for each other.
Toriyama's Cover for WSJ No.37 (1989/08/12) — Happy Father's Day!
Look at Goku & Gohan flying through the sky together! It's smiles all around to break the bleakness readers must have felt what with Dragon Team struggling against the fearsome Vegeta for months mid-serialization.
Toriyama's original title page for Dr. Slump's 7th chapter in WSJ No. 11 (1980/02/12) — Happy Insect Day!
At least Ladybug Arale dressed for the occasion... Akane mentions Senbei acts the part of a "Namereon" (Licmeleon) instead of "Kamereon" (Chameleon). But neither are bugs...
Toriyama's original title page for WSJ No. 9 (1985/01/29) — Yamcha & Pu'er infiltrate Oolong's House-Wagon!
Goku's in rare form with his trusty "Nyoibō" at the ready with an armed Bulma right behind. This page became the face of animated 1986 adapted in adspace!
Did a quick Trunks drawing, trying to replicate Toriyama's dragon quest shading style
Toriyama's Monster Design of Khese Dragon for "Dragon Quest" (1986/05/27)
Straying away from appearing like typical high fantasy dragons, he illustrates one with vibrant orange dorsal fins & a bright blue frame. It's arbitrary in retrospect but it calls forth some mysticism, no?
Been studying Toriyama's painted works again for an upcoming piece, this one is undoubtedly my favorite.
I wanted to draw her in Akira Toriyama's style but failed horribly lol #sailormoonredraw
Wanted to experiment colouring in Akira Toriyama's style.

Given that I spent a good three years drawing nothing but Dragon Ball, a lot of Akira Toriyama's sensibilities and appealing art has rubbed off on me.
Oh crap, here I forgot to check before posting. I'm talking about bishop Ladja here.
And even though the movie sadly doesn't use Akira Toriyama's famous style so do I like how freaky Ladja is in it.
Artwork of his game appearance is included for comparison sake.
4 for 1 today? It's piccolo day and goku day! Somehow??? So I thought I'd post not only one of the best fights in the series but also toriyama's coloring at the same time because it's rad how he used less color as the chapter went on.

@JayWall2 Those people need to read my Dragon Ball Culture books. Toriyama repeatedly complains about his editor flat-out negating his ideas with the phrase "Rejected!!" Or he'd reshape Toriyama's ideas in ways he was forced to comply with. This first timeskip is discussed in DBC Volume 5.
Currently thinking about Akira Toriyama's visual interpretation of the Chrono Trigger
Toriyama's Package Illustration for Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 (2010/04/28)
Intricately decorated to the brim with a surfeit of detailed, 1:1 scaled monster designs, you're sure to observe something new each time you're drawn towards the illustration's rhythm.
Toriyama's Monster Design of Wight Knight for "Dragon Quest" (1986/05/27)
You'd think a departed soul solidified in this manner would be too spooky for you. However, its colorful outfit and goofy smile will instantly charm you while it menacingly, aggressively poises for battle.
Toriyama's Character Design of the titular shadow Dragon in Blue Dragon Grand Beasts of Another World (2009/10/08)
He had creative control designing the main characters & the title's packaging. Always the atypical, his dragon has human-like expressions & an valorous build.
