He glances over at the Naminé in his memory.
She changes, too. A diff't girl, w/ red hair, smiles at Sora.
The scenery returns to a peaceful day. Sora ponders over this familiar/dear/nostalgic (懐かしい) person he doesn't remember. He realizes Naminé is gone, & calls out to her.
Axel walks over to the dejected girl. W/ Sora being at odds w/ his friends, including even his best friend, Naminé is the only one who can save him now.
"It's too late," she despairs.
Is it? By inserting herself into that *promise,* was that the tipping point? Did she go too far?
Repliku’s memory-rewriting, and more observations about other signs his (and Sora’s) memory of the *promise* to protect Naminé was based on Riku’s memory of a *promise* to protect Sora:
(Excerpts of interest below)
Aaaaand now's a great time to talk some more about Repliku!
I'll repost here my thoughts about his protectiveness of Naminé I wrote about when analyzing hers and Marluxia's behavior regarding the *promise* just to keep the relevant things together.
He's back.
And it looks like this guy has been waiting for Sora, who rushes over to him.
"Riku" skips the formalities, straight to business: "You'll hurt Naminé if you go further."
Sora is perplexed—shouldn't Riku be back to normal with Vexen gone? Maybe it's not that simple…?
Marluxia flatly invites Naminé to "rejoice" that she can soon meet her "hero," though she doesn't seem to have the "heart" to be happy. Reminding her of her prisoner status, Larxene warns her against doing anything that would break the illusion and reveal the lie to Sora.
We have another talented artist to introduce you to– Cerumoce! She will be creating for Naminé/Strelitzia. See an example of her work here, and find her on Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr @cerumoce
I just found a neat parallel~
"Together, let's save Kairi!"
"Together, let's save Naminé!"
Sora rejects Riku's offer in KH1 b/c he doesn't want to hurt the puppet.
"Riku" reject's Sora's offer in CoM...but this time HE'S the puppet... Sora still doesn't want to hurt the puppet.🙃
Axel strangely makes it sound as though Vexen should be happy that both his "memories and existence will be put to an end here." On the contrary, Vexen pleads with him, but to his horror—and Sora's pity—Axel kills Vexen to keep him from spilling all the beans about Naminé.
...if he continues to fall further into the illusions of his memory. Vexen warns Sora that following those "memories" of Naminé will only lead him into the trap set by Marluxia. But just as Sora's about to inquire about this person, Axel cuts them off—with his chakram.
There's no way Sora could trust someone like this, someone who's hurt his & Riku's friendship, who's hurt Riku that way. Sora doesn't know his own heart? Nonsense! He knows exactly what his heart wants—Riku's AND Naminé's safety—he's not gonna let this liar hinder him from that.
In the images are the outline of the Chain of Events showing how Sora and Repliku got their respective star charms, and when those charms became connected in their memory to the *promise*.
For both Sora and Repliku, Naminé used objects that were conveniently on hand to change
The *Promise* ~ Some thoughts about meteor shower memory, its potential basis in reality (w/o going into CoM novel)
In addition to Sora & Repliku sharing a memory:
(clipping some points below)
~ The *promise* is one Marluxia & Naminé /have known about/. (see scene analysis above)
Despite this rapid turn of events, the cunning Marluxia has a plan already in mind, something he seems to have known about and has been sitting on. He stalks over to Naminé, glumly sitting alone, so absorbed in...could it be worry?...that he startles her on touching her shoulder.
They manage to find Maleficent and Belle; Beast arrives shortly after. However, Belle still has some awful things to say (but she doesn't TRULY mean them, right?).
"I don't want to see your face anymore!"
//"Naminé's not the only one who doesn't want to see your face. Me too!"//
After his 2nd fight with Riku, Sora gloomily walks up to F9 as Donald & Goofy exchange concerned looks. Sora wonders aloud at these events: The two both want to save Naminé, right?
"But then, why are we quarreling/fighting?"
They've clashed lots in the past, but this is...hmm...
Elsewhere in the Castle, Naminé is sitting sadly by herself when Axel visits her. From his pointed questions, it seems her sadness is coming from the strife going on between Sora and "Riku." Note again that pushing of blame: It's "all because of Naminé" that this is happening.
Time for another round of the Inconsistency Game! Yay!
Before: Protecting Naminé is the only thing that matters to me.
Sora: But, I matter...
Riku: Pft, yeah right.
After: Sora, I can't believe my feelings don't matter to you! Jerk! (subtext: "You still matter shootgottarunnow")
