This week #WyrdWednesday is about all things green, so I'm going to tweet about the kappa, a #yokai from #JapaneseFolklore. Kappas are small reptilian creatures about the size of a small child. They live in lakes and rivers waiting to attack unsuspecting passers-by.

@MantaXR This work represents the spread of nightmare called "Coronavirus Pandemic Dream" in the coronavirus crisis, based on Japanese myths and folklore. But is the enemy character really a coronavirus? #NFT #NFTs #cryptoart https://t.co/tK7aq2k3gP
While Rumiko Takahashi borrows from folklore heavily in her works, InuYasha remains her work most steeped in Japanese folklore. It features a time-traveling reincarnation of a Shinto priestess reuniting with the namesake half-yōkai InuYasha, and their team. #MythologyMonday

Happy Anniversary👑#Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan #manga! I've seen the anime so it'd be interesting to maybe read the whole plot. It's always fun to read about Japanese folklore.
And speaking about manga, there's this super underrated Chinese manhua artist/illustrator, Zao Dao.
She mainly does one-shots, drawing from Chinese supernatural folklore. Her works are both vibrant and dark, whimsical and eerie, rich and atmospheric.

It's the last day of #Faebruary and here's one last #faerie for the month. This one is #Columbia from American folklore. Sometimes I feel like I don't have much to be #patriotic about, but I remember what this country is supposed to be about and I do what I can to fight for it.
I'm gonna try it 😳 #ShareYourUTAUDay

Stravinsky’s “Firebird” was written for the ballet. The firebird holds a sacred place in Russian folklore. A symbol of doom to hope, the Firebird’s rise from its ashes has inspired many. It inspires me & is playing whenever I write.

Loch Iorsa on the Isle of Arran has it's very own #monster myth.
The loch's name means 'loch of the snakes/ serpents'. This serpent is perhaps a wurm: a dragon with no legs nor wings from folklore.

F is for Futakuchi-onna - yōkai (or demons) from Japanese folklore. It takes the form of a young woman, who has a large second mouth on the back of their head that does all the eating, and boy does it eat!😋 #ModernMonsters #Illustration #Japanese #Yokai
Two concepts for color schemes for Huldra, one of the villains for Diary of Avril, and also one of Aviril’s Sisters. One is closer to Aviril, the other is more reminiscent to the titular Huldrefolk of Scandinavian folklore.
Which do you prefer?
