Crayon Shin-Chan developed a unique filmmaking style to solve the issue of framing adults with tiny children in the same shot: lots of extreme high and low angles, and pushing characters way into the foreground or distance.

After that I do the standard lineart + flat color step.

I usually draw the stuff hidden by foreground layers in case I wanna change the composition later but you can skip this step to save more time!

If I decorate the characters with assets, I put them above the lineart layer.

My favorite color theme though would have to be a dark background with a bright foreground or main focus!

It was a lot of fun to do! The 3D effect is hard to capture in a photo. I digitally filled in the background that’s behind the foreground image. Then I cut out the foreground image and placed it between two slim sheets of glass. Cutting out Nightcrawler was the hardest part

The same process is applied to the background and foreground elements. You block out the basic shapes and tweak them until you're happy. With this design, I wanted most everything to return to the Godly Potato.
