Here are two great photos one of the early meetings of the Norwich 20 Group at Sir Garnet Wolseley, Norwich in 1950 and a life drawing class in Norwich in 1944. The group celebrates its 75th anniversary this year and has over 90 artists!

S is for "Solemne" or "Strangers" - Anthony de Solemne published the "Belijdenisse," the first ever book printed in Norwich in 1568. It was printed in Dutch for the "strangers" community of refugees who had fled from the Netherlands.

Our Collection Curator recently travelled to India to rediscover this view, first captured by artist James Baillie Fraser in 1815. Fraser’s topographical prints, alongside others, are currently on display in our picture gallery.

Vernon Castle, who, with his fashion icon American wife Irene, was one of the most famous dancers of the 1910s, was born 1887 in Norwich. They dominated the dance world giving shows, exhibitions & classes. Vernon served in the RFC but was killed in an air crash in 1918.
