To this day, this has got to be the most detailed and highly rendered piece I’ve ever put together. I slaved over my laptop for a couple weeks in the mall food court working on that background. While I’d love to recreate it some day, I doubt I’ll ever do this justice.
Omar ibn Said was born in 1770, in what is now Senegal, West Africa. A well educated man, in 1807 he was enslaved and transported to #SouthCarolina in the #USA where he remained a slave until his death aged 94 in 1864.
