A few ideas for casting shadows from curved surfaces (in 2pt persp). Take a look. Note: A key aspect is to know the "relationship-to-ground' for certain points of the curved surface. I dropped plumb-lines (solid red) down from them to help with the shadow casting.

The upper spine connector is difficult to get to look correct. Finally nailed it!
Next up: Create moulds to cast the pictured spine parts in fiberglass/carbonfiber and resin. I want to test the complex surfaces on these prior to the main head parts.

Not gonna lie, doing the smooth and shiny surface of the Metalking was fun. I'm not usually too indepth with my surfaces because I picked up a lot from the Pokemon art style, so this was a nice change of pace.
