"The Snowman" is his classic, but I'll always remember Raymond Briggs for his take on "Father Christmas" as a cantankerous, all-too-human old fart. Briggs's imagery often inspired awe, but it was the relatable mundanity of his domestic tableaus that always stuck with me. #Story
I was sad to hear about the passing of Raymond Briggs today. I loved reading his books especially The Snowman and Fungus the Bogeyman when I was young and of course watching The Snowman. Here is an illustration I did inspired by that magical moment ✨️ #raymondbriggs
The story goes, while working on “The Keep” Mann saw “The Snowman” on TV while in England and was captivated by the song and wanted a reworked version of the theme.
Resulting in an electronic prog rock epic to accompany the fantastical otherworldly operatic climax of the film.
Raymond Briggs, author & illustrator of our favorite books, the globally adored 'The Snowman,' has passed away. Mr. Briggs was a caring, fun-loving man with a wicked sense of humor and a wall in his office dedicated to the art sent by children inspired by his work.
The Snowman still makes me blubber every year when I watch it, and When The Wind Blows traumatised me when they wheeled the TV and the video player in to show it to us in primary school. 'Cause y'know, it's a cartoon and we were kids, right? Thank you, Mr. Raymond Briggs. (K)
