Caterpie is based on swallowtail caterpillars, mostly the spicebush swallowtail. The big black spots aren't eyes at all, but are only meant to resemble snake's eyes and the red organ, the osmeterium, is meant to resemble a snake's tongue, all to scare off predators. (1/2)

Not far off.
I read a paper that punching with blunt force can do significantly more damage to an average predator skull with their fragile Jaws, extended eyes, thin cheek bones, etc.
Human skulls have thick chins, reinforced cheeks & sockets.

Attitude, designed to be the neighbour next door. Kira wears a normal suit, is a businessman and acts like a bland person to the public, but underneath is a predator, designed to strike at the most vulnerable. I love everything about Kira, one of my favourite villains ever.
