Basically: Colorize the grayscale, fill in the white space with color, added shading details to shadows and shines, and then touch up details like sweat, steam, glows.

mutations come in a wide variety of forms. the first is always glowing eyes. others include horns/antlers/tails, changes to eye/hair/skin color, shapes of eyes/ears/hands/feet changing. a mutation can completely change your appearance, or be relatively minor
