Sarah Anne Drake (1803-1857): English botanical illustrator. She acquired the post of governess in the family of John Lindley (1799-1865); English scientist. She became his principal botanical illustrator, as he recognised and appreciated her intelligence and artistic skills.
Only a few artists have been able to paint both men & women with empathy & Lawrence was one such painter. General Sir John Moore (c1805), Emily Lamb (1803), Elizabeth Williams (1804) & William Lamb (1805)
