I got actually so fired up over this that I decided to redraw all the FF1 starter classes lol just to make a case that you can give these sprites softer shading and a ton of colors and still make them look okay and reasonably faithful to how they looked like originally

Originally Final Fantasy 1 didn't have a Cid. In later ports/remakes a mention of Cid *was* added to keep the "Cid in every FF game" thing going
It's unlikely but it would be REALLY cool if Eminem over here is FF1's Cid who died fighting Chaos/Golbez/Whatever before FF1 started

Rewatching the trailer, it disappoints me that they didn't go with the Amano-style sense of design for this game. Especially when it is set in the FF1 world.
