JLA This is a great issue, reaching the utter peak of DC Comics superheroic absurdity to this point, and boasting a climax wherein Dream battles/imprisons Starro to ultimately save the world. Porter also levels up here, IMO.

JLA Oh hey, I should have known from the cover but this one features Dream (Daniel), and it also features Starro. What a great and seemingly-disparate pairing of characters. Also, GMo is back after a guest stint by Mark Waid.

JLA Kind of knew throughout the last issue that this wasn’t a full heel turn for ol’ Adam Strange, but still interesting to follow it as it plays out. The ending hits a bittersweet note that not too many superhero books tend to embrace. Next, Morrison returns!

JLA This one is a little disturbing. It’s about the mad-wrecking grief those who lose their families suffer. This is a major concern that seems to come up again and again among those making superhero comics. Not entirely sure why.

JLA https://t.co/1MbSqe52j1 is off, throwing our hashtag into utter confusion...but it’s a fun story nonetheless. Mark Waid scripts with regular series artist Howard Porter, which gives us some continuity. It’s also impeccably polished, as Waid’s work tends to be.

This was great! I lived for these giant group pinups as a kid. My favorite is still Perez’s JLA/JSA group from JLA George also did one like this in DCCP about a year before Alex’s.

In the JLA/Avengers crossover, they had the inevitable fight scenes. GL hits Spectrum with a green cage. Spectrum starts to attempt to duplicate the energy. When they met again, Spectrum was ready. Don't sleep on Ms. Rambeau.

for those at home, this is basically the same ending as Morrison's WW3 storyline in JLA. The big difference is, giving everyone superpowers is the solution to a cosmic threat, not some kind of dangerous "anarchy"

JLA Secret Files This is a fun issue, and I’m a Christopher Priest apologist who loves all his work, so his scripting was a treat. Ultimately, the point here is to re-assemble and ultimately expand the League. Good times for all.
