Hubble recently revealed new images of two planetary nebulae, including this colorful picture of the "jewel bug" nebula NGC 7072.

Planetary nebulae are created by dying stars as they shed outer layers of gas. Read and see more from this study: https://t.co/YH7UXFuQJK

after that i dropped in the nebulae. oliver's map only had 1, where that ship with the ! is, so i put that one back in, added one behind the sun, and one near red planet. use nebulae sparsely, and give them their own layer so if you hate them you can delete 'em easier (1lyr)

Thank you so much for making this! I'm nebulaeon/nebulaebae! I'm in an art slump rn, but I do both digital and traditional art! Mostly of my OCs and D&D characters I keep getting ideas for. :') 💕

Pictured as a star forming region and cataloged as NGC 2264, the complex jumble of cosmic gas and dust is about 2,700 light-years distant and mixes reddish emission nebulae excited by energetic light from newborn stars with dark interstellar dust clouds https://t.co/OsTxHvLdyx

Various color experiments mashed over two quick sketches. Trying a new technique of coloring outlines, shading, and just for kicks painting nebulae for abstract backgrounds.

How do you see the world? Is it wild and mysterious, or a system just waiting to be decoded?

I go back and forth between imagining the world as a place of untamed magic and an elaborate system. In this case, two giant towers bring forth stars and nebulae to bejewel the heavens.
