Sketch vs Final - I have a bad habit of just smashing all my layers together, so sketches don't really survive my process. This is one of the only recent sketches which made it. Nice to look back and realize I butchered it! Thanks twitter art memes -_-

Was talking to an artist friend about this last night, so I thought I'd share here. My fur texturing/value process through an image. There are actually eight layers broken down here into four, but it should give you a good idea of the process.
Normal mode was just the basic tower defense mode similar to PvZ2 and PvZ1. Adventure mode was similar to that of a TCG, where players would form decks of plants to battle AI. And finally, a Mine mode where you could send plants to conquer caves and earn rewards in the process.

@duckylira i just think "hmm...oh how about a pose like this?" and then spend 300 hours looking for references on Pinterest, then I get distracted for 10 hours, then I find the perfect refs, then I cry in the process. For that kaisa i used these pics as refs:
