While referring to reference materials, it’s hard for the hangar to be screen-accurate given how much artistic licensing had been made when they built the hangar sets. As you can see, there’s not much space for the Container Mecha and the Peace Carry.

Oh but the way I made it it's working on the NES already :) Sprites can only have 3 colors, true, but a sprite is only 8x8 or 8x16 (the mode I chose). A character is built in code of multiple sprites that move together, and each of these pieces use one set of 3 colors. Like so:
