More dynamic colour splashing, went with a simple dual splash, yellow vs purple with.

Always wanted to do the gargoyles with their game faces, but I wanted to avoid making the sclera glow with the inner part of the eye.

I think it's more menacing, or cute in Lex's case.

As far as "growth", the Rowlet line is one of my favorites. From a pudgy ball of birb to a literal owl that looks like a scholar to the badass archer/assassin in Decidueye. You could make an entire backstory from that alone.
