Another day, another ‘fun’ rant from my YEC coworker.
“Embryonics is a farce.” “The fossil record as it is portrayed doesn’t exist.” “*something something* polystrate trees...” ... How am I even supposed to deal with this?
Today for #FossilFriday we have a VERY rare specimen. A Parapeytoia yunnanensis appendage. These species’ classification is argued in the paleo community between being an Anomalocariid and a Megacheira. Picture 4 shows the possibly morphology of each classification.
I came up with other halves, other fusions, and ultimate fusions of the pokemon gen 8 swordshield fossilmons Dracozolt, Arctozolt, Dracovish, and Arctovish. Please excuse the sloppiness
Also no self-respecting cartoon stegosaur WOULDN'T have a thagomizer. Draco is a carnosaur!!!
the method maybe more interesting than the results, but turns out the #WoollyMammoth had a typical lifespan of about 60 years - slightly shorter than modern African elephants (65ish)

Also, #Alaska state fossil = woolly mammoth!
I was thinking "It could be cool if the new fossil pokemon could evolve and fully merge the pieces into something more unified"
so I draw an evolve #Dracozolt

The Fossil Pokemon! They work a bit differently in this region; instead of being revived from a specimen encased in stone, the fossils in Norre are revived from specimens frozen in blocks of ice, making the part Ice type!

This fella here is Fossil. You're gonna see him in a bunch of weird stuff or situations. Here's one of those things.
Results from the #paleostream
Hoffstetteria, Nigersaurus, Dimetrodon teutonis (christmas edition) and Saurorhynchus.

"Fauna Antiqua Sivalensis" (1846) describes Indian fossil collections made by paleontologists Hugh Falconer and Proby Cautley in the 19th century. @amjukar explains how publications like this are important for modern research ➡️ https://t.co/mfJ16uhs37 #FossilFriday
@smolpinkcat Here are four of my more unusual fellas; first is supposed to be "literally, top half bear bottom half croc, like one of the new fossil pkmn", and the thing fella is a roosterfish specifically!! Thanks so much for the chance ;;
This is a small reconstruction of Tianyulong confuciusi, an heterodontosaurid from Late Jurassic China, for my in-prep book. Some basal ornithischian dinosaurs are known to have been fuzzy... some could have been VERY fuzzy! #FossilFriday #paleoart #sciart #dinosaur
To help us forget about politics, here's some #FossilFriday Rhamphorhynchus muensteri #paleoart. The 3 big animals are based on the largest known (1.8 m wingspan) muensteri specimen, which was once thought to be a unique species. Turns out it's just a really large adult.
