Studying rendering techniques for future coloring pieces. I've always felt that rendering was my problem with my coloring, so I thought to find Jojo volume covers, make them grayscale, and try to see how it's done. I think I did a proper job.

I don't usually post anything here on Twitter, but since the artists I follow make my eyes sparkles all the time, with their artworks and daily life, I decided to start posting something for once.

Giving the color I realized I liked it most in grayscale.

Also, none of these pieces were properly colored in with colored markers. I get them down with grayscales and then color over them using a Soft Light later ;0

Oooh old vs. new comparison support tweet! Hi, I'm an artist from Los Angeles! The sketch is from when I was 12 years old (15 years ago ago) and the grayscale painting is from 3 months ago (recently started learning how to paint 3 months ago too).

Ever encountered a goblin? How did that go? I do love drawing these guys. Any excuse to exaggerate facial features is a joy for me! 👹 .

My answer is a bit complicated 😅 So I've been sketching since I was 12, but I've only learned to start painting 3 months ago. Sketch (12 yo) vs. Grayscale (3 months ago)

Day 1051: Grayscale! Tonight's result was disappointing. Another one where I fiddled and fiddled but just couldn't get it to look right. A necessary step in learning to actually do better portraits, but a frustrating one nevertheless. Still, I just gotta keep practicing!
