I think these scattered orange-brown spots are the 'uredinia' of a Puccinia species: stage II in the rust fungus's life cycle.

A couple of frustrating hours later and I think I remembered how colors work... it's been months since I've colored something and I had to shake the rust off

Would anyone know a fur that would be a good match for the lightest orange/brown on the tip of the tail here?
